About Us

The 3rd St Albans Scout Group was founded in 1909. It has a proud tradition of Scouting through the years. See our history page for more information HERE.

Since it began there have been over 5,000 Scouts, Cubs and Beavers sworn in over the same flag that is still used today.

In 1967 the group moved to it's current home of Thunder Base off Waverley Road, St Albans. This is also right next door to the St Albans District HQ and the St Albans Scout Shop.

The current size of the group has over 80 members across all ages and we have 24 adult volunteers to help make this a great time for all ages.

We have a Scout Group with over 28 members who meet on a Friday. The Scouts are aged between 10.5 to 14.

There are 2 Cubs packs that meet on a Tuesday (Griffin) evening and Saturday (Burrell) morning. Griffin has over 20 members and Burrell has 12 members. The ages of the Cubs are between 8 and 10.5.

Also we have 2 Beaver Colony’s that meet on a Wednesday (Thor) and a Saturday (Fensome) morning. All the Beavers are aged between 6 and 8.

We have the honour of being the first Scout Group in Hertfordshire to have both a Beaver Colony and a Cub Pack meet on Saturday’s.

Feel free to look around. If you are interested in joining just send us an email or fill out the contact form here.

Come and join the adventure just like our Chief Scout Bear Grylis.
