We are able to double our fundraising with parents being able to obtain “match funding“ from their employers ---are any of you able to arrange this for us in the future?
Further information will be available nearer the events!
Please support your “Kids” by giving a little --- be it time, money or unwanted items.
The Scout Association is a volunteer movement and as such we are always looking for ways to raise funds.
There are many ways to do this but as Parents/Beavers/Cubs/Scouts you can help us to do this.
General Fundraising
Should you have any Bric-a-brac, Tombola or Raffle prizes, sweets/chocolate, unwanted toys, etc. We would be grateful for all donations. Bring them to the Scout Hut on Monday, Wednesday, Friday evenings or Saturday mornings
Yes we collect the vouchers as well. So please remember this when you are doing your shopping or filling up with petrol.
We know that many parents collect thes vouchers for schools but please remember that they have funding from the goverment but the Scout Association gets no money from the government so we need all the help we can get. Please bring in your vouchers and either hand them in to a leader or drop them into the voucher box located outside the kitchen.
The 3rd St Albans has signed up to an exciting new fundraising programme which will enable us to turn other people’s trash into cash.
Scouts Appeal recycles old mobile phones, PDAs and used printer cartridges to raise money for our group. With an estimated 90 million redundant phones lying around the UK gathering dust and 35 million inkjet cartridges being used every year the earning potential is great!
We are encouraging all our supporters to get behind the appeal and not only save their own cartridges and handsets but also get their place of work involved.
Supporting Scouts Appeal is great news for the environment too. When cartridges and mobiles are thrown out they end up in landfill sites where they can leak toxic substances into the surrounding soil polluting the earth. These items also take many years to biodegrade resulting in a long term environmental problem.
Items donated to Scouts Appeal are reused or recycled and can generate up to £50 per mobile and £10 per cartridge for the Scout Group, some Scout groups in the UK are raising thousands of pounds from Scouts Appeal each year!
Mobile phones are refurbished and sold on, often to lesser developed countries where
they are an essential from of communication, while cartridges are refilled and returned
to the consumer stream as an environmentally friendly product.
For further information on how you can support the Scouts Appeal please contact us.
Thank you for your support – happy recycling!
