We are well known as a troop who has great international links and we promote International Scouting at all times. At the last 3 world Jamborees we have had Scouts from the troop, 1 in Chile, 3 at Chelmsford and 4 going to Sweden and this is out of a maximum of 8 Scouts from St Albans District.
We run weekend camp 3 times a year and have a summer camp of at least 1 week every other year
These summer camps are at International camps like Campdowne where the Scouts have a chance to meet and interact with Scouts from other countries .It was through camping next to a Dutch group at Campdowne that we have a lasting friendship with the St Willibrordus from Zandvoort in The Netherlands.
The 3rd St Albans Scout group meet every Friday at Thunder Base at 7pm.
There are currently about 28 members ranging from the ages of 10 ½ to 14. The warranted leaders are Dave the Scout Leader, Beverley, Carl and Mat the Assistant Scout leaders who attend every week and set out a programme of events and activities for the scouts to follow including.
Preparation for St George’s Day. What is the union flag made up from, why and when. Mind games night. Fire lighting and use of cooking equipment. Sea Cadets night. Tent checking for family camp and camp skills. Packing for family camp more camp skills.
This is some of the things we do along with team games, mind games and just generally have a good time
We pride ourselves on having a good standard of discipline in the troop and try to instil this in the Scouts for both their personal and Scouting life
